LIFE Nepal / Mission and Vision
Vision
“Establish an educated, healthy, protected and socioeconomically empowered society”
Mission
“To construct a delicate society where every person can freely exercise their fundamental rights for a dignified life and be united for children’s rights”
Objectives
- Organize, empower, and mobilize marginalized women and youth (especially Girls, Dalit, Muslim and children with disabilities) in the protection and advocacy against child/early marriage, child labor, violence against women/girls, and gender-based violence.
- Inform, create awareness, and sensitize the community and marginalized people (especially Dalit, Janajati, people with disabilities, elderly, single women, pregnant and lactating women, and Muslims) about the rights, entitlements, and services (health, WASH, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, education, social security, protection, livelihood, environment, culture) of the government of Nepal in order to claim their rights and gain access to services.
- Build up the capacity of the community, local governments, district stakeholders and institutions through trainings, workshops, and conferences for participatory planning, child rights, human rights protection, and the promotion of good governance.
- Promote access to justice for people in need through conflict resolution and peace building and strengthening the capacity of the judicial committee.
- Literacy, income generation, life skill and vocational training for women and youths to ensure their climate resilient livelihood, food and nutrition security, and their social-economic empowerment.
- Advocate that school is the right place for girls, Dalits, and Muslims to protect themselves from violence.
- Establish emergency resilient communities and schools through disaster risk management, emergency response (earthquake, flood, fire, windstorm, cold wave, heat wave, and pandemic), and early warning systems including an emergency desk and information technology.
- Conduct surveys (baseline, end line), action research, and evaluations (midterm, final) to identify the issues related to education, health, and agriculture.
The core values of the organization are:
Children are the foundation for the new Nepal. Therefore their voices and choices must be respected by the people to ensure their active and meaningful participation and development so that they can freely exercise their rights and entitlements in society for their protection and survival.
All forms of violence and discrimination, whether caste and ethnicity based, gender based, domestic, against girls and women, Dalit or people with disabilities, is intolerable and unacceptable.
We believe that information empowers people to claim their fundamental rights and entitlements. This can be done through the provision of basic information regarding services of the government for the people of the nation. Hence, the denial of the right to information is non-negotiable in terms of marginalized people, especially girls, women, youth, Dalit, Janajati, Muslims, and people with disabilities.
We have come to understand that people are poor due to the absence of education rather than uneducated due to poverty. Therefore, we believe that education is the solution to ending poverty.
